Studied law at Trent Polytechnic in Nottingham. Articled clerk at Leathes Prior. Qualified and joined Cole & Co in 1984 and became a Partner in 1987.

A Manchester City and Norwich City season ticket holder.  Honorary member (and former Chairman and President) of Norwich Round Table.
