Family bereavement – probate and estate administration

The term ‘Probate’ describes the legal authority to act in the administration of a person's estate after they have died. This can be an especially emotional and stressful time since the executor is required to collect in the assets and to pay the debts of the deceased, to complete the appropriate Inheritance Tax forms and to distribute the estate amongst the beneficiaries of the will or in accordance with the rules of intestacy (where the deceased has left no will).

We can assist both executors and administrators with the administration of all types of estates. We have expertise in high value estates, which raise complex Inheritance Tax issues, as well as estates which include business and agricultural or foreign assets. We are equally happy to handle smaller estates for the benefit of individuals and charities. If required one or more of our partners would be happy to act as a professional executor and to take on the daily administration of the estate.
