Powers of Attorney

What would happen should you leave the country or were you to lose your mental or physical capabilities? Who then would deal with any financial affairs on your behalf?

The simple answer is to make a Power of Attorney – to appoint someone of your choosing to act on your behalf. We are happy to advise on the choice and structure of a Power of Attorney which can be tailored to your needs.

A Property and Affairs Lasting Power of Attorney allows your attorney(s) to make decisions about your finances, such as selling your home or managing your bank accounts, should this become necessary – for example through ill health. A Personal Welfare LPA allows your attorney to make decisions about both your health and personal welfare, such as where to live, day to day care and medical treatment.

A General Power of Attorney can be used if you require someone to sign documents on your behalf in your absence. This can prove particularly useful if you are involved in a land or property transaction but will be out of the country for a length of time.
